The School Badge

School Badge

The School Badge is divided into three sections. The top left section with the words IHS stands for the name of Jesus and is the monogram of the Society of Jesus which runs St. Xavier’s School. The top right section contains the emblem of the House of Xavier on the coat of arms of St. Francis Xavier’s family. The lower section has a crane that mythologically is supposed to wait for the rains to quench its thirst. It is symbolic of every Xaverite who thirsts for the river of holiness (knowledge and virtue) and so we have at the base of the badge, the Sanskrit words ( पिपासीतय पुनितासरित्त ) . Thirsting for the river of holiness.
